Koronadal City DRRM Council Holds Community-Based DRRM Training of Trainers 🛡️

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council of Koronadal successfully conducted a Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) Training of Trainers on September 15–19, 2025.

The five-day training aimed to produce competent trainers who will cascade CBDRRM knowledge and skills at the community level. By empowering grassroots leaders and responders, the initiative strengthens local capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

The CBDRRM framework highlights the importance of community involvement in disaster preparedness. It ensures that local knowledge, resources, and strengths are utilized to reduce risks, safeguard lives and property, and enhance resilience against future hazards.

According to the organizers, building a culture of preparedness at the community level is vital in facing natural and human-induced hazards.

  • 38th Infantry Battalion (IB), Philippine Army

Graduation of Trainers 🎓

At the end of the training, 24 participants successfully graduated as official CBDRRM trainers. They are now tasked to cascade disaster preparedness knowledge and skills in their respective agencies, barangays, and communities.

The City DRRM Council emphasized that these new trainers will play a crucial role in building a resilient Koronadal City, better equipped to face disasters through proactive planning, preparedness, and collective action.
